Year Closure

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to first thank everyone for a wonderful first year as the College Libertarians. We are looking forward to another great year next fall. We enjoyed having everyones support, attendance, participation and help. Thank you. We are proud to have successfully pulled of a competitive and informational forum sponsored by the Oracle. We hope that this will be a yearly or even monthly occurance. Special thanks to the runners, Professor Brahnam, Professor Hall, Professor Peterson, Kerrick Butler, The Oracle, Katie Arnold, The Democrats, The Republicans, the Libertarian speakers and everyone who attended - it would not have been possible without you.

As far as next year goes, Michael Lind is the new President, Jim Reinsma is the new Vice President, Josh Cristales, Jen Cook and Andy Austin remain in their same positions and Andrew Saah is the new Representative. Special thanks to Joshua Owings for his wonderful efforts, hard work, and time in helping found the club and being its first President. This year showed lots of potential for next year and hopefull will provide a wonderful platform to continue growth and education. Next year we plan on attending some conferences, having fundraisers, more meetings, discussions, forums, debates, outreach and envolvement on campus.

Michael Lind will be out of the country for the summer and a new website should be put together for the fall. Enjoy your break and for those who are graduating our blessings and prayers are with you. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any thoughts, questions, comments, or concerns. It has been a pleasure working, serving and representing you. We will stay in contact throughout the summer.

CFN conference.

Here is the email that I recieved from the Campus Freedom Network. Hopefully you can copy and paste the links to go to their site and register if you are interested... I posted below a video of something FIRE did. CFN is sponsored by FIRE if I am correct...

Don't Wait. Register Today!
In last week’s CFN Update, we announced that the CFN will hold its second annual student conference in Philadelphia on June 18–20. In keeping with tradition, this year's conference will be jam-packed with relevant information for students like you.

Attendees will hear from some of the leading experts on First Amendment rights in the country and will have the opportunity to learn how to defend liberty on their own campuses.

To learn more about this exciting opportunity and all the other resources the CFN provides, check out the promotional video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Zu0cUcKnkE . We haven't officially released the video, so you're getting a sneak peak. This short video tries to capture what the CFN is all about.
We understand that cost is often an issue when planning summer trips, especially for those of you who will be traveling from considerable distances. For that reason, FIRE will again cover all expenses for accepted students, including a travel voucher to cover up to $300 in travel expenses.
I strongly encourage you to fill out the application http://www.thecfn.org/events/show/2.html as soon as possible. Priority will be given to students who register early. Please contact the CFN team at www.thecfn.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Last year we had to turn students down for the conference. Don’t let that happen to you! Register today!
